WELCOME

Welcome to the web home of THE EAGLE SOCIETY.

THE EAGLE SOCIETY is dedicated to the memory of EAGLE - Britain's National Picture Strip Weekly - the leading Boy's magazine of the 1950s and 1960s. We publish an A4, quarterly journal - the Eagle Times.

This weblog has been created to provide an additional, more immediate, forum for news and commentary about the society and EAGLE-related issues. Want to know more? See First Post and Eagle - How it began.

EAGLE TIMES: AUTUMN ISSUE 2026 Vol. 39 No. 3

The Autumn issue of EAGLE Times is out now and available from Bob Corn at the address alongside. It features articles about Bruce Cornwell, the 'Dan Dare' artist, by Jeremy Briggs, 'Riders of the Range' and 'Heros the Spartan', both by David Britton, 'Last of the Saxon Kings' and 'Ordinary People and Places in the 'Dan Dare' strip' by Steve Winders. There are two pieces by Gerald Edwards, posing the questions of why Dan Dare was never featured on cereal boxes and why there was so little 'Luck of the Legion' merchandising. Gerald takes the opportunity in his queries to examine the space based elements which did feature on cereal boxes and various products which referenced the French Foreign Legion. John Swan's talk from our recent Gathering in Peterborough about EAGLE'S quest for perfectionism and the third part of the latest Archie Willoughby story 'The Case of the Funny Money' complete the issue.
